Pride '01 Comes Home with the Season Opener Trophy!

It was cold and sunny when the Cherokee Pride '01 took the field in the first tournament of the 2012 season.  The Pride girls showed the other teams why they should definitely "Fear the Spear" this spring!  The Pride played excellent softball this weekend:  winning 3 out of 4 games and landing in the Championship Game.  The Pride first played the Georgia Impact '02 and beat them by the score of 9-1.  Next, they took on the Georgia Force '01 and defeated them 10-4.  The Georgia Select was next and the Pride beat them in a nail-biter, winning 6-5 in the bottom of the last inning.  They faced the Georgia Xtreme '01 next and lost 5-1.  Finishing with 3 wins and 1 loss (and scoring 26 runs over the course of the day) was enough to take them into the Championship Game against the Georgia Impact '02.   The Cherokee Pride girls stayed tough and brought home the championship, winning 10-3.  What a season it will be!!!!  Go Pride!!

Fear the Spear of the 2012 Cherokee Pride '01

Cherokee Pride '01 Earns $2500 Grant!

The Cherokee Pride '01 is a Fall 2011 Grant Winner!!!!!  Thank you goes out to Liberty Mutual's Responsible Sports Grant Program for offering this wonderful opportunity!!  The Cherokee Pride '01 would like to thank all of its friends and family who helped us to earn a our grant.  Grant funds will be used to purchase new bat bags for the girls and to help defray the costs associated with practice space and the 2012 season. 

Pride '01 Back on Track!

It was a better weekend for the Pride '01 as they competed in the USFA tournament June 4-5 in Carrollton, GA.  In pool play the Pride '01 defeated the West GA Mystics by the score of 5-4.  In bracket play, the Pride '01 lost to the GA Fire-Deatherage, an '00 team, by the score of 1-5.  This defeat sent us into the loser's bracket where the Pride '01 again faced and defeated the West GA Mystics again by a close score of 7-6.  Sunday morning brought the Pride '01 another win against the Sharpsburg Chill, 10-6.  In a close game against the GA Impact-Mathis after that the Pride '01 was defeated 5-7.  The Pride '01 showed much improvement in its defensive efforts and hit the ball well.  All in all, the Pride '01 played hard and very well!!  Go Pride!!

9U Southern Nationals

The weekend of May 28-29 the Cherokee Pride '01 competed against the best '01 teams from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.  The competition was fierce!!  Although the Pride '01 went 0-6, they worked hard and did their best.  Coaches and parents are PROUD of our girls and their play against tough teams!

Pride '01 has Tough Day in Dalton

It was a long, hot, tough day in Dalton, GA on May 21 for our Cherokee Pride '01.  Facing good competition, the Pride '01 lost 3 straight.  The first game against the GA Fire-Jenkins was a close one with the Pride '01 coming out on the losing side, 5-6.  The second game, against the GA Bombers, ended in defeat, 4-7.  The last game also ended in defeat by the score of 1-14 against the GA Xtreme.  Looking for better weekends ahead!  Go Pride!

Pride '01 Seeded First in Gold Bracket!

The Pride '01 was seeded first in the Gold Bracket after finishing 3-0 in pool play in Dalton, GA on May 7.  They handily defeated the Crush (NC) by the score of 10-0.  The second pool game against the North GA Misfits ended with the Pride '01 on top by the score of 12-4.  The last pool game against the GA Force '01 ended in favor of the Pride '01, 12-0.  This fabulous pool play placed our team as the #1 seed in the GOLD Bracket!!  A Pride '01 first!!!  Way to go, girls!  Alas, the first bracket game against the GA Fire-Staton, a tough '00 team, ended the Pride '01's  hopes for victory by the score of 14-3.  It was a great weekend of softball for the Pride!
